Since 1939, Santa Fe Animal Shelter has served as the City Different's hometown shelter, working every day to support animals, save lives, and spread compassion across our community. As a nonprofit organization, the Shelter provides care, healing, and second chances for thousands of animals each year while helping people and pets stay together whenever possible.Located at 100 Caja del Rio Rd, Santa Fe Animal Shelter offers adoption services, a foster program, behavior rehabilitation, and lifesaving medical care. Through community centered programs like the CASA guardian assistance program, pet food support, and affordable veterinary care at Thaw Animal Hospital, the Shelter works to remove barriers that separate families from their animals and create pathways for pets and people to thrive together.Prevention is a core part of the Shelter’s work. Accessible spay and neuter services, a Trap-Neuter-Return program, humane education, and other volunteer driven outreach efforts address animal welfare challenges at their root while strengthening the bond between animals and the people who love them.Santa Fe Animal Shelter is more than a place for animals in need. It is a bridge to the community, built by the community, and sustained by the belief that when we care for animals, we strengthen the wellbeing of Santa Fe itself.Our Rescue Roast proudly supports this work.
